In what’s kind of a fun story to snack on, the news publication Insider.com (sister of Business Insider and Market Insider) had acclaimed chefs tell-all about their favorite jars of salsa, and in that continuing narrative of store brands being as good as national brands, two retailers made the list with their private brand offerings.

Trader Joe’s earned a shout out from a Colorado-area chef for its “Spicy, Smoky Peach Salsa,” with the chef calling it addictive, and adding that it works great with grilled chicken or shrimp.

The other store brand salsa to get a mention was Whole Foods’ “365 Everyday Value Salsa Roasted Verde.” The chef is the author of the book “Hangover Helper” and calls the tangy Whole Foods salsa an excellent topper for chilaquiles.
