Dollar General Announces 5 Leadership Promotions

America's largest retailer by store count is shaking up its leadership structure with several promotions.

Discount retailer Dollar General has announced several leadership promotions within the company, highlighted by the promotion of Rod West to executive vice president of Global Supply Chain.

West, an 18-year veteran with Dollar General, will lead the company’s distribution center operations, transportation, demand chain and its private fleet of trucks. West most recently served as senior vice president of distribution. He has led supply chain, finance, merchandising, market and store development initiatives in his time with the retailer.

Jeff Vaughan has been promoted to senior vice president, inventory and demand management. In this role, Vaughan will oversee essential inventory management functions across the organization including demand planning, product fulfillment and demand management. 

Most recently, Vaughn served as vice president, division merchandise manager, leading the Candy, Snacks, Beverages, Beer, Wine and Tobacco categories. He joined Dollar General in 2012 and has held positions of increasing responsibility including demand chain management analyst, senior buyer and senior director or merchandising.

Pooh Vichidvongsa has been appointed vice president, division merchandise manager of Health and Beauty, a growing category at the retailer. She joined the company in 2008 as a pricing analyst and has held roles of increasing responsibility, most recently leading the home division and holiday events categories as vice president, division merchandise manager. 

In that role, Vichidvongsa was responsible for initiatives and product development within non-consumables (NCI) and was instrumental in the creation and roll-out of NCI, designed to refresh Dollar General’s general merchandise and improve the customer shopping experience. 

Matthew Belcher has been promoted to vice president, division merchandise manager, overseeing Candy, Snacks and Tobacco categories. He most recently served as senior director of merchandising. Belcher has more than 17 years of retail merchandising experience, joining Dollar General in 2010 as a merchandising assistant and has held roles of increasing responsibility during his 13-year tenure with the company.

Finally, Doug Pace has been promoted to vice president, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). He has been leading FP&A at Dollar General since 2021 and was key in building the company’s long-term growth model, developing the FP&A team and working closely with business partners to enhance profitability. 

Pace brought more than a decade of experience to Dollar General in investment banking, strategic analysis and financial planning when he joined the team in 2017 as senior manager, strategy and corporate development, leading to his promotion into roles of increasing responsibility.

Dollar General operates 19,488 Dollar General, DG Market, DGX and pOpshelf stores across the United States and Mi Súper Dollar General stores in Mexico.
