Instacart's FoodStorm platform has been upgraded in time for the holiday season.

The holiday season is on the horizon and with this festive season comes a surge in prepared food orders that can overwhelm grocers.

To help with this challenge, Instacart has added several new features to its FoodStorm order management system (OMS). Now available to all retailers, the new features are a complete overhaul of the OMS interface, ensuring a more user-friendly experience, Instacart officials said. Employees are able to manage pickup orders, monitor payment statuses closely, and accurately handle items sold by weight, such as Thanksgiving turkeys, Hanukkah briskets or Christmas hams.

“These updates make it easier for retailers to view all items in an order and check the current payment status to ensure accurate fulfillment,” said Rob Hill, general manager, Order Ahead, with Instacart. “In-store teams can also conveniently access customer order information by scanning a barcode, which instantly displays the corresponding order on a mobile device. Customers also now have the option to settle their bills upon pickup, significantly reducing the need for issuing credits, refunds, and recharges.”
