WISE changes up the board

Three new industry leaders step into board positions as three others step away.

As first reported during coverage of the WISE Annual Meeting on Nov. 4, the organization Women Impacting Storebrand Excellence (WISE) has elected new members to its board of directors.

Three leaders of industry will step into board roles on Jan. 1, 2022: Sheila Dy Juanco, Albertsons; Lisa Eatherton, John B. Sanfilippo & Son; and Phyllis Johnson, Catalina. Each will serve a three-year term.

“WISE is thrilled to officially welcome these three amazing women to our board of directors,” said Jen Linke, WISE Chair. “Phyllis and Lisa are familiar with our board having been volunteers and integral contributors to the first year of our WISE Junior Board. Sheila’s extensive experience in R&D compliance is going to bring a different, and most welcome, lens to our organization. We look forward to having them directly involved in shaping our vision moving forward.”

Sheila Dy Juanco

Dy Juanco serves as the vice president of technical services for Albertsons and has more than 20 years of experience in R&D compliance spanning a number industries. Additionally, she devotes time to a MBA Leadership mentorship for budding women in business and is active with the Asian Network ARG across Albertsons Companies.

Lisa Eatherton

Eatherton comes to the board as a senior business manager for John B. Sanfilippo & Son and has held several positions in sales and marketing for the company. She has volunteered on the WISE Professional Development Committee since 2019, and most recently, became a member of the first WISE Junior Board in 2021. 

Johnson, senior director of own brands at Catalina, brings 25 years of private brand experience and knowledge to the board. She was recently named a Game Changer by Store Brands, and Johnson supports various nonprofit organizations by volunteering her time to teach and mentor young and upcoming business professionals.

The three members replace spots vacated by Nancy Cota, Albertsons; Laura Fezouti, C.H. Guenther & Son; and Susan Hunsacker, Advantage/Daymon.

“The women leaving our board at the end of the year have contributed so much to our organization,” said Linke. “Each has left a lasting mark on WISE and is an important reason why we have grown. Nancy, Laura and Susan, thank you so much for being a part of our WISE family.”

WISE is a nonprofit professional development organization, founded by women, to champion the power of diversity and inclusion which drives profitable growth within the store brands industry. The organization has been partnering with Store Brands to select Top Women in Store Brands winners, recognizing leaders across every facet of the private label industry.
